Artist Rashaad Newsome could be a character out of a science fiction movie. But his groundbreaking productions, which combine dance, technology, collage, sculpture, video, music and performance, are real. In this exciting documentary, the genesis and genius of his work are made clear, while themes surrounding blackness, queerness and trans identity are dealt with in a wonderfully modern and effortless way. Perhaps not a typical PFFB film, but nevertheless an artistic and fascinating excursion into Newsome’s work in a former military building, which he transforms into a queer, visionary utopia. All with the help of his creation, a non-binary AI called “Being”. Radical, wild, and top-tier art at its finest!
