Still today, it’s difficult to find narratives about sex workers that aren’t in some way moralizing or negative. Harder still is to find positive portrayals or even something with a happy ending! This cinematic fairy tale follows a young woman, Adèle, as she embarks on a journey of self-discovery and sexual liberation within the confines of an enigmatic cabaret. As Adèle navigates relationships and confronts her deepest desires, Borleteau weaves a narrative that explores themes of intimacy, identity, and empowerment where the women ultimately become fulfilled precisely because of their profession.
