With a near 50-year career as the queen of no wave, spoken word witch and face of the New York City’s Cinema of Transgression, there’s not much, artistically or otherwise, Lydia Lunch hasn’t tried or done. She’s left a history ripe for documentary exploration – finally undertaken by Cinema of Transgression contemporary Beth B. There’s no doubt that Lydia Lunch is comfortable in front of a camera (and an audience) but B manages to get the underground icon to be surprisingly candid – perhaps as candid as Lunch has ever been to the public before – sharing with the viewer her biographical, artistic and sexual transgressions.
