This disturbing film dares to touch the taboo of incest. Aging ballet dancer Nadja, whose body is broken and in pain after years of dancing, encounters her teenage son Mario after many years apart. To concentrate on her career, she left her son with his grandma. Now they encounter each other as strangers and start a sexual relationship. This is neither explained nor excused.
As part of one of this year’s festival focuses “Family Constellations” (together with “Anima – Die Kleider meines Vaters” and “Bilder (m)einer Mutter”), “Grand Jeté” offers a rare perspective on a completely dysfunctional and estranged family structure in the most uncompromising and radical way.
