Sunny Boy

Born and raised as part of the Tamil minority in Malaysia, Kumar Muniandy moved to the UK fourteen years ago. For this documentary, Kumar takes us on a highly personal journey from Kuala Lumpur to London, reflecting on his family and cultural heritage. He compares his hidden life as a gay man in his homeland with his open London life as part of a gay scene that is nevertheless stigmatizing his brown skin and his Indian roots. An intimate portrait of a man in his late thirties as well as a reflection on masculinity, sexuality, race, Tamil culture, faith and above all on how all these diverse identities overlap.
