Talented, young actor Emil Bach is rehearsing for the role of Phaidros, the Athenian counterpart to Socrates, portrayed by the legendary Werner Maria Strauss. Meanwhile Faustian Werner Maria wants to make their (staged) relationship a reality. But the Ephesian hero emancipates himself from the passive role as object and commits to his love for transgender woman Lorelei. Then a murder happens.
