The eight-part LEMON POPSICLE film series became a pop culture phenomenon in late 1970s/80s West Germany ‑ and was rediscovered on 1990s cable TV. Yet hardly anybody seems to know its Israeli background ‑ and that the first part is a coming-of-age masterpiece, full of ribald humor, melancholy and Tel Aviv color.
