Bara no sôretsu

“FUNERAL PARADE OF ROSES” offers a kaleidoscopic view of Tokyo’s vibrant gay countercultural scene in the late-1960s. Inspired by the legend of Oedipus Rex, it is formally reminiscent of Godard’s early work with its use of experimental montage, nonlinear storytelling and unusual perspectives. A remarkable avant-garde and subcultural film and a piece of contemporary history, totally worth watching.
